70% of German economists believe that tariffs on Russian oil and gas imports are more effective than the embargo. Survey by the ifo Institute

Germany should limit trade relationships with autocratic states, while tariffs on Russian oil and gas imports are more effective than the embargo. These are the findings of a survey of 158 German economists conducted by the German ifo Institute and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung in late May.

The economists believe that Germany should stay integrated into the global economy and that a new law requiring German companies to exercise due diligence when choosing international partners (the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act) will make it difficult for them to conduct international business.
